Are You Ready for the Total Solar Eclipse?

A total solar eclipse will occur in Arkansas on April 8, 2024. This total eclipse will be only one of two visible from Arkansas during the 21st century (the other ...one will occur on August 12, 2045). These events are rare for any given location on the planet.

This presentation by Dr. Scott Austin of the University of Central Arkansas will review what is necessary for total solar eclipses to occur, the 2024 totality path and duration for Arkansas, and best practices for safely observing this once-in-a-lifetime event for many Arkansans. In addition, the science opportunities solar eclipses provide, and an overview of the activities that will happen at UCA will be covered.
